Introduction to MQTT

During this hands-on training session, we will explore the fundamentals of the MQTT protocol, which is becoming an increasingly popular way to integrate IoT and other devices into PLC and visualization systems. Since MQTT has been supported in Domat IDE since version 2.8..., we will also demonstrate how to configure MQTT parameters in Domat IDE and practice publishing and reading data using a test broker.

• MQTT fundamentals and terminology
• Publisher, Subscriber, and Broker roles
• Exploring a test broker using an MQTT client
• Topics and message formats
• Quality of Service (QoS), Last Will messages, Retain functionality, and their implementation in Domat IDE
• Message composition and parsing, implementation in Domat IDE
• Introduction to regular expressions
• Creating an MQTT communication channel in Domat IDE and establishing communication with a broker
• Common issues and troubleshooting techniques

Please bring your own laptop. Make sure you have administrator privileges in Windows, as you may need to install Domat IDE, Wireshark, and MQTT Explorer. We look forward to seeing you there!
