With the launch of the HT300 series of terminals on the market, the question arose of how to solve the transition from the older HT200 type. For new installations with Domat IDE 2.6.0.4 and higher, it is not complicated, the procedure is the same as for the previous version, only HT300 is selected as the terminal type. However, if we are using an older IDE version and do not want to upgrade the entire assembly to a newer IDE version or are just replacing the HT200 with the new HT300 hardware, let's take a look at the following tips:
The power supply is the same, 24 V DC. However, the consumption is significantly lower for the new terminals. This means that nothing needs to be changed on the power supply. However, be careful about the size of the mounting hole:
Type | Consumption (W) | Mounting hole (mm) | LCD diagonal | Resolution (px) |
HT200 | 30 | 192 x 138 | 7" | 800x480 |
HT300 | 9 | 192.5 x 139 | 7" | 1024 x 600 |
HT310 | 12 | 274.2 x 193.4 | 10" | 1280x800 |
HT315 | 16 | 421 x 261.3 | 15" | 1920 x 1080 |
Even when replacing the HT200 with the new HT300 terminal, we must count on a smaller expansion of the hole! However, it could have happened that during the original assembly the hole was cut with sufficient margin and the HT300 fits comfortably in it. However, this must be verified on site.
Since the Domat Visual application always expands the panel to the full screen size while maintaining the template aspect ratio and the aspect ratios for all diagonals are approximately the same, the original templates and terminal definitions created for the HT200 can be used without any problems for the HT3xx. If the "Custom" resolution with the HT300 parameters was selected for the original template, i.e. 1024 × 600 pixels (or larger), or another terminal type was selected - HT3xx, the objects will be reduced by approx. 20% (or more) and free space will be created on the right and bottom of the panels. For editing, recording, etc., it does not matter that the HT200 type template will be uploaded to the HT3xx terminal. For larger diagonals, all objects are automatically proportionally enlarged and the appearance of the graphics is preserved.
If we create a new graphic template, we select the resolution for the appropriate HT3xx terminal type.
We remind you that for the older PLC series – SoftPLC – just like with the HT200, only the text menu can be used; graphic panels are supported only for the PLC series mark and wall.
HT3xx terminals have two Ethernet interfaces, which are connected as a switch. They therefore have one IP address. The interfaces cannot be separated and used in different networks. After the replacement, we have one additional Ethernet interface, which can be used, for example, to connect a service laptop. If we use only one of them to connect to the PLC, it does not matter which of the sockets is connected to the PLC.
The entire process may take 30-60 minutes, depending on the readiness of the switchboard.
